I grew up in Cape Town, South Africa, and followed an entrepreneurial career rooted in formal design, which was in constant conflict with my passionately wayward creative streak. The opportunities to ‘make art’ were mostly financed by a lifelong affiliation with the hospitality industry. But every spare moment has been dedicated to creating, painting and learning.
As long as I can remember, my studio has been an old desk, a space in the corner or a spare room. Last year we built a little, bespoke studio onto the house. It is my beautiful bolt-hole, looking out onto a tidal loch, a river and a mini woodland. It is my very own space to create.
My art is strongly based in intuition and response. Regardless of the medium or theme, the work is always connected to my surroundings and events in my life. Living on the Isle of Skye fortunately provides an endless source of inspiration.
I love exploring different media and can happily begin the day in papier-mache, followed by an interlude of abstract painting, and finish up soldering silver. My jewellery can be found in my Etsy shop and across my social media.
